Collection: Face Grain & Edge Grain Cutting Boards
Face Grain Cutting Boards are made by arranging the wood so that the face of the board shows the wide, flat surface of the wood grain. The face grain is smoother and often displays the wood's natural grain pattern more prominently.
Edge Grain Cutting Boards are similar to face grain boards. Edge grain boards are made with the wood fibers running parallel to the surface. This type of board is typically more durable than face grain boards and less prone to knife marks compared to end grain boards, though it’s still softer than end grain boards.
End grain boards are prized for their durability and self-healing properties, thanks to the vertical orientation of the wood fibers. In contrast, face grain and edge grain boards, though still beautiful and functional, are generally quicker and easier to craft, requiring less complex techniques.
